Jamie,
I thought that I might be able to tell you Katie's mother's name, but I can't figure it out.  However, I did come across something about Grandpa McCrie.  James Wellington McCrie was born on 06-18-1878 in Grand Haven, Michigan.
 
His father, James Miller McCrie, was born in Cumnock Ayreshire, Scotland.  He worked as a carpenter, and I think he was 39 years old when Grandpa was born.  Grandpa's mother was Anna Anthoney.  She was born in Jefferson Co., New York.  She was 31 years old when Grandpa was born.  His older sister was Jennie Eliza McCrie.

Do you have details on Katie's life? I remember her visiting us on 14th Street a lot, but my childhood memories are pretty hazy. Do you have an address? Towards the end I think she lived off Woodward Ave north of Detroit, but I don't remember earlier residences for her.
Do you have her birthdate and location? On the internet I get 7/7/1889 in Mosa Township, Ontario for Catherine Letch MacKellar. Interesting middle name. Does all that info sound right?
Do you know what she did for a living? 
Date of death, location, and burial location? I vaguely remember going to the funeral home, but that too is blurry. Did you happen to keep a copy of the service pamphlet?
Wish I remembered more about her, because she was one of my favorite relatives growing up. She would always play games with me and feigned interest in my various collections. She was a real sweetheart.
